In which emergency situations will I receive a message?

You can receive messages from BE-Alert for different types of emergencies, including fires, floods or power outages.

Your mayor, governor or Interior Minister decides whether an alert should be sent. It depends on the nature of the emergency.

BE-Alert is not always the best, or indeed only, channel to notify you during an emergency. Depending on the time (day or night, during the week or at the weekend, before or after school, etc.), the place (in a field or in the city centre, on an industrial estate or close to a child care centre, etc.), or the type of risk or incident (fire, flood, explosion, etc.), it may sometimes be more appropriate to use other resources.

For example, you can also be alerted via traditional media (TV or radio) in the event of a high-impact emergency.
